June 14-20

This is the first post I have done for the blog that is current as I have been playing catch up on all the others. Another week of spectacular weather and the bit of mud that came from the flash flood up the north Fork has cleared out. Emerald waters and a riotous group was the norm with Larry Bock distinguishing himself as number one instigator. In fact, we had two teen agers last week, although, Trevor displayed a level of maturity missing in the elder teen. Our internet was noticebly crippled by the constant downloading of god knows what by this group. Pleasure seeing old time repeats Scott Minick, Richard Spry, Monte, Mike and Mary Homier and Bob. We boated the Crapo run, lower Salmon, Dillon Creek run and several forays to the Ikes. Benny, Jess and Jason were the "turbo stud god" insructors and it was a seriously good time had by all. Thank you guys for keeping us alive here and leave some comments!

  1. Thanks for a great week Peter. Everything - kayaking, instructors, food, lodging, entertainment, and the group - was exceptional. Even the weather was great.

  2. WOW! Thanks to all for a great week. Was so cool to work with Grum and Jason, what a pleasure. And to see Monty, whom I have known since he first started paddling. It is always so nice to see people coming through like that. Comment of the week was made by Mike the dad, early in the week, can't remember it verbatim, but he was saying how he was worried that Trevor wasn't going to have anyone his own age to hang out with this week. HAHAHA!!! No worries there! At the time we were watching Trevor and Larry and the rest of the Lads huddled around a laptop watching something suitably inane on YouTube. Mike was just coming to the conclusion that he had nothing to worry about. HAHAHAHAHA! What a week! I don't think the internet has ever run that slow. Thanks for the good time everyone, and Larry, thanks for informing us of the appropriate termanology for a blind bear - for all y'all out there, it is actually an "other abled" bear.

  3. I've come to expect a great time at Otter Bar, but this week exceeded my already high expectations. A fun group of people, terrific guides who could teach well (once you learned to speak Kiwi) and make it fun (and the reverse endo out of a combat roll into a hole was definitely that), exceptionally good food and great hosts as always. Larry kept things lively both off and on the water - watching his braille technique for other-abled kayaking is amazing and Trevor brought out the inner teenager in all of us (not that it was difficult). Thanks to Jess, I also came back with a new skill, how to peel an anatomically correct orange. Many thanks for a great time, Scott

  4. What a combination; beautiful scenery, outstanding facilities, food fit for a king (or Larry) and wonderful people. The guides were outstanding this year as always and watching them teach is a joy. I first came to Otter Bar to improve my Kayaking skills and I have done this every year, now I come for the people and the chance to refresh my mind and spirit. Thanks for the gift that is Otter Bar, Richard.

  5. Summer is finally over, but Trevor and I look back at Otterbar as the summer highlight. What a magical place with great people and unbelievable setting. We will be back next summer! Mike
